Three things, along the vendors' own frameworks (AWS Well-Architected and the Google Cloud Architecture Framework):
- Infrastructure. Landing zone, network, permissions, backups, and whether it can be rebuilt if it has to be.
- Deployments. How code gets from commit to production, how often that succeeds, and how you get back when it goes wrong.
- Cloud costs. What you pay against what you use, and which items you can cut without risk.
We read along in your code and your console, and talk to the people who run it. Not a questionnaire for an afternoon.

A report with a prioritised list of improvements: per item what it is, what it costs you to leave it, and what it costs to fix. At the top is what delivers the most for the least work.
The list is ready to execute. By your own team, or by us in sprints of two weeks at a fixed price: improvement work on infrastructure and CI/CD fits a medium (€8,000) or large (€12,000) sprint. You are not tied to anything: the report is yours.

- Day 1. Intake and access: what runs, what hurts, who runs it.
- Day 2 to 4. We look: code, pipelines, cloud console, bill. Short questions to your team in between.
- Day 5. Walk-through of the report, with the list of improvements and advice on the first step.
The scan costs your people a few hours in total. We do the rest.

As a Google Cloud Partner we can apply to Google's partner programmes for environments on Google Cloud. They sometimes fund an assessment partly or fully, depending on your environment and your plans. We check that up front, so you know what the scan costs you net before we start. If you run on AWS, the price is the price.
Frequently asked questions about the scan
What does the Cloud & DevOps scan cost?
€4,000 excluding VAT, for 5 days. For environments with several clusters or several teams €8,000; which of the two it is, we tell you after a half-hour conversation. For environments on Google Cloud part of it may be funded through Google's partner programmes.
Who is the scan for?

For companies that already run in the cloud and feel it could be better: the bill grows, deployments are nerve-racking, or nobody dares touch the cluster. If you are still ahead of a migration, a readiness assessment is the better entry.
How is this different from a free Well-Architected Review?

That is an interview of an afternoon, paid for by the cloud vendor, and gives you a score per pillar. The scan is five days reading along in your code, your pipelines and your bill, and gives you a list you can execute tomorrow. We use the same frameworks, so the results are comparable.
Do we have to stay with you afterwards?

No. The report is yours and the list is written so your own team can get on with it. If you want us to do it, that runs in fixed-price sprints, and you decide per sprint whether to continue.
Does the scan also work on AWS or Azure?

On AWS yes, we work on it daily. Azure we do not do; we would rather refer you on than promise something we know less well.
