Between September 2024 and April 2026, ZEN Software guided ANWB through the move from their own data centre to the AWS cloud. This was more than a relocation: the existing data-centre-based solutions were rebuilt as cloud-native services, with Kubernetes as the foundation of the platform.

Where dedicated infrastructure used to do the work, the services now run on managed AWS building blocks. Storage moved to S3, messaging to SQS. That is not simply a different place to run: components that scale independently make the whole more predictable than an environment where everything leans on the same machines.

DevOps coaching ran alongside the technical work. Moving a platform is one thing; leaving an organisation able to build on it themselves is another. Those two tracks ran in parallel throughout.

The new environment went live in December 2025. A business-critical enterprise service bus — the backbone carrying message traffic between systems — has been running in AWS since then, to full satisfaction. The engagement continued until April 2026.
